Established in 1967 and headquartered in Youngstown, PA, approximately 35 miles east of Pittsburgh, PA; Westmoreland Mechanical Testing & Research, Inc. was founded on the principles of innovation, excellence and quality. Unquestionably resourceful, knowledgeable, and innovative, this state-of-the-art testing facility is staffed by experienced professionals in metallurgy, mechanical engineering, computer programming, chemistry and more.

Westmoreland Mechanical Testing & Research, Inc. has established a worldwide reputation for high-volume, quick turnaround testing in one fully integrated facility. Over 300,000 square feet of production and testing capacity is designed to ensure minimum turnaround times. An acknowledged global leader, no one can compare with the versatility and testing capacity available at Westmoreland Mechanical Testing & Research, Inc.

Proprietary software to control and analyze test results is designed and written in-house. Specialized grips can be designed and machined onsite thereby ensuring the best turnaround. For unique testing requirements, the flexibility and resources to accommodate a wide range of sample sizes are available, with machine capacities to 1,000,000 lbs. 

The laboratories of WMT&R are organized into the following groups: Mechanical Testing, Non-Metallic and Composites Testing, Fatigue Testing, Manufacturing Technologies, Stress Rupture and Creep Testing, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical and Analytical, Physical Metallurgical and Fracture Mechanics. In addition to standard testing, WMT&R has the proven ability and resources to custom design tests for special applications. Our fully integrated, state of the art facilities and laboratories maintain accreditations and approvals that companies in additive manufacturing, aerospace, automotive, oil and gas and power generation require. Westmoreland Mechanical Testing & Research, Inc. is A2la ISO 17025 accredited and NADCAP accredited.
